English Liteary Association on 28th August 2025
The Department of English, Immaculate College for Women, Viriyur, joyfully inaugurated the English Literary Association on 28th August 2025 at 10:30 a.m. in the II M.A. Smart Classroom.
The programme was graced by the presence of Rev. Sister Finnan Mary, Secretary, and Rev. Sister Dr. K. Lilly Mary, Principal, whose encouragement and blessings added inspiration to the occasion. A total of 35 students participated with enthusiasm.
The inaugural session began with the lighting of the lamp, symbolizing knowledge and wisdom. Julie of III B.A. English delivered the Welcome Address, warmly greeting the gathering.
The esteemed Resource Person, Dr. M. P. Shabitha, Assistant Professor, PG Department of English, Government Arts and Science College, Kallakurichi, delivered an insightful talk focusing on the four essential skills of English. Her session enriched the students’ knowledge and motivated them to sharpen their academic and communication skills.
The cultural segment of the programme featured a drama performance on Shakespeare’s Othello by the II Year students, which was well appreciated by the audience. In addition, Julie of III B.A. presented a speech on Antony’s Oration, showcasing her oratorical skills.
The event concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by the Head of the Department of English, expressing gratitude to the resource person, management, staff, and students for making the inaugural function a grand success.
The programme not only marked the beginning of the Literary Association but also inspired the students to actively participate in literary and cultural activities throughout the academic year.
