The Students Association programme of the Departments of Computer Science and BCA was held on 20th July 2026 at 10:00 AM in the College Auditorium. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of faculty members and students.
The programme began with a melodious prayer song performed by the Department students, setting a spiritual and positive tone for the programme. This was followed by the traditional lighting of the Kuthuvilakku, symbolizing knowledge and enlightenment. The lamp was lit by the Chief Guest Mr. M. Muthu Karthikeyan, M.C.A., M.Phil., Managing Director, MI Software Solutions, Chennai; Secretary Rev. Sr. Finnaian Mary; Principal Rev. Sr. Dr. Lilly Mary; Heads of Departments — Mr. A. George Arokiaraj (Computer Science) and Mrs I.Dhanaseeli (BCA); and student representatives.
Mr. A. George Arokiaraj, Head and Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, then delivered the welcome address, warmly greeting the dignitaries, Resource Person, faculty members, and students.
The Chief Guest was honoured with a shawl and memento as a gesture of appreciation for his valuable presence and contribution to the programme.Following this, the Felicitation Address was delivered by the Secretary, Rev. Sr. Finnaian Mary. She motivated the Computer Science and BCA students to make effective use of the opportunities provided by the institution. She particularly appreciated the students for their continued support and cooperation in the academic and departmental activities. She also acknowledged the valuable financial support and contribution of the Computer Science students and encouraged them to continue their commitment, teamwork, discipline, and active participation in all departmental initiatives.
Next, the Principal, Rev. Sr. Dr. Lilly Mary, addressed the students and highlighted the importance of undertaking meaningful academic projects and internships. She encouraged the students to gain practical exposure, apply their classroom knowledge to real-world problems, develop technical skills, and make use of internship opportunities for their future career development.
Finally, the Chief Guest, Mr. M. Muthu Karthikeyan, M.C.A., M.Phil., Managing Director, MI Software Solutions, Chennai, delivered an inspiring and informative address. He explained the importance of choosing B.Sc. Computer Science and BCA as career-oriented programmes and highlighted the growing importance and future scope of computer science and information technology. He motivated the students to develop strong technical knowledge, practical skills, problem-solving abilities, and professional competencies to meet the demands of the rapidly changing technology industry.
The Resource Person also explained the career opportunities available to Computer Science and BCA graduates and encouraged students to continuously update their knowledge in emerging technologies. He warmly welcomed the first-year students to the Computer Science and BCA departments and motivated them to make the right choice of specialization, actively participate in departmental activities, and build a successful future in the field of technology.
The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Mr. S. Stephen, Assistant Professor, Department of BCA. He expressed sincere gratitude to the management, Secretary, Principal, Resource Person, Heads of Departments, faculty members, and students for their valuable support, guidance, and active participation in making the programme a grand success.
OUTCOME:
The programme motivated students to recognize the
importance and future scope of B.Sc. Computer Science and BCA programmes. It
encouraged them to develop technical and professional skills, undertake
meaningful projects, gain practical experience through internships, and
actively participate in departmental activities. The programme also provided
first-year students with motivation and awareness about the opportunities
available in the field of Computer Science and Information Technology.
